My heart was throbbing fast as I walked on the ramp with my models. I have done this countless times, but my heart still beats wildly as if it were the first time. I could hear claps of appreciation from all the guests who attended this year's fashion week. I had plastered a smile on my face, but from inside, havoc was going on in me. Hundreds of judging eyes were fixed on me. But that's not what bothered me. The reason behind this was that he was sitting in the front row with his calculative, predatory, cold blue eyes fixed on me. He was not alone. A beautiful woman was sitting beside him, whispering something to him. My fingers curled on the side of my dress. I felt a burn in my chest looking at them. What was he even doing here in the first place? His cold, scrutinised eyes were following my every small movement, and that made me feel anxious. It made my heart beat even faster. It was not his first time doing that, but every time he did that, my stomach scrunched in sweet fear. I just wanted to get out of here. I averted my eyes and smiled for the last time at everyone. Turning around, I walked backstage in a hurry. I just wanted to be away from this predatory gaze. Once I was in my changing room, I let go of my breath, which I didn't even know I was holding. I took a deep breath to calm myself. Another successful show I took a deep breath of relief because I was no longer in front of hundreds of judging eyes. I wanted to get out of this tight dress. I pulled the straps from my shoulder, and the dress became loose around my chest. I was about to let it fall from my body when the door of my changing room opened. My heart beat fast, and I grabbed the dress from the front before it could slip down. I was on my toes, ready to lash out at the person who opened the door without my permission. But my words died in my mouth when my gaze met her cold blue eyes. My fingers curled tightly on the soft material of the dress and pressed it more against my chest. His predatory, cold blue eyes moved all over me, making me shiver under his gaze. I swallowed the lump and mustered my courage. "Get out," I said in a firm voice, but it shook a bit at the end. The muscles in his jaw tensed when I said that. Instead of getting out, he closed the door and started taking calculative predatory steps toward me. His eyes moved all over my length. My heart started to drum fast. It made me take a step back until my back was flat against the wall. "I said get out," I repeated, trying to sound firm when he was only a step away from me. He stood in front of me with his hands in his pants pocket. "Last time I checked, I still own this place," he said arrogantly in his deep voice, which made me want to sink into the wall. He stood in front of me. "But it's my workplace," I breathed out when he cut an inch of distance between us. His body was not touching me, but my body still twitched as if his calloused hands were moving all over me. I lowered my eyes and took a deep breath to calm myself, but my heartbeat raised when I heard steps coming towards us. "Someone is coming. Go from here," I found myself pleading. The steps became louder as if the person were just a few steps away from opening the door. I don't want rumours to be spread here. An evil smile formed on the corner of his lips looking at the distress on my face. "I'm not afraid to be seen with my wife," he said in his deep, low voice, sending shivers down my spine. My eyes snapped towards him in anger. I know he was doing this on purpose because no one here knows we are married. Why is he breaking the deal?
"Mom I have told you so many times I don't want to get married," I said to my dear mother, who has not stopped ranting at me. "How long do you want to be an unmarried man? Look at all your friends. Skyler, Zanvil, and now even Skyler have girlfriends, and here you are solving criminal cases. When will you solve your life's case?" My mother taunted me sternly. I pressed my lips in a thin line. "I want to see you happy." She was pissed because I didn't go on a blind date on a Friday. "Mom, I'm happy. I don't want to do blind dates, and I don't ever want to get married. It's not for me," I said sternly, not wanting to take this topic any further. Getting a girl in bed is not a problem for me, and if she wants me to get married for that reason, then I'm better off without it. "Then when will I get to see my grandchild?" she said, sounding agitated. If she wanted a grandchild this desperately, then she should not have stopped me from having a surrogate. Only because of her I even gave it a try for surrogacy. But she has to come and stop me. A grunt of annoyance left my mouth. I had made up my mind that I didn't want to get married. I hardly get time for myself. "Probably never," I said, cutting the call before she started to do waterworks. She loves to use emotional blackmail on me. It has worked on me in the past, but not now. I threw my cell phone on the table and slumped back in my chair. I massage my throbbing forehead. I closed my eyes and exhaled to take a five-minute rest. I have been working on the case, and it's so stressful. It's not even been five minutes since my cell phone started to ring again. I have won so many cases in court, but I can never win an argument with my mother. "Mom, give me a break," I said in annoyance, and I grabbed my cell phone. I slid up the green button to tell her for the final time. "Hello, am I speaking to Mr. Michele Roberts?" a famine voice said from the other side. I composed myself before opening my mouth. "Yes, you are," I said in a firm tone while still massaging my forehead. I need to take medicine for it. "Sir, I have called you to invite you to the anniversary ceremony of Happy Life Fertility Hospital," she said in her receptionist tone. My brows furrowed when she said that. I was about to say how it concerns me, but my mouth was sealed when she continued. "We tried to call your wife, but we couldn't reach her. Please bring your four-year-old son too. We are going to do a small celebration because he is our thousandth successful IVF child," she said, sounding happy before cutting the call. The ground beneath my legs was snatched away. I just couldn't believe my ears. What the fuck? I have a wife and a four-year-old son.
With a big smile on my lips, I walked toward his class. standing at the door. I looked at him talking with my English professor, Miss. Hans. She said something while patting his arm in a way I disliked. The smile graced her beautiful face, capable of making any man fall for her. Jealousy shot through me as I saw how his lips curled up looking at her laughing face. Is she this amusing to him? "May I come in, Professor?" I asked in my stern voice as I couldn't keep quiet anymore seeing them standing so close to each other. The anger and hatred were noticeable in my voice, which made them look at me. His icy, light blue eyes fell on me, making me glare at him. I saw how Miss. Hans took her hand away from his arm as she saw my gaze fixed on where she touched him. "Come in, Miss Davis," my maths professor said. I could indeed hear the mock in it. So he wants to play. He thinks this little girl won't do anything. I walked in with my head held high while keeping my emotions at bay. I kept my assignment on his table while still glaring at him with a set jaw. "Sorry to disturb you guys. Don't mind me. Continue your conversation. I'll take my leave now," I said in a stern voice as his eyes remained fixed on me. "Miss Davis, stay here. I want to discuss your grades," he said, looking into my glaring eyes. "Sorry, my friend James is waiting for me. I need to go," I said, looking straight into his eyes with a sweet smile on my face, stressing more on the word "friend," and I saw how his jaw clenched. Miss. Hans smiled as I said that to him. I could see she wanted to spend time with him, and it increased my jealousy even more. Without sparing him a glance, I walked out of his office in fast steps as I felt his heated gaze on me. I started running once I was out of the class, with tears threatening to fall from my eyes. Before I could reach the exit, my hand was grabbed and I was pushed against the wall of an empty corridor, making me gasp in fear. "Let me go. Someone will see us," I said as he pressed his hard body against mine. I tried to push him with my hands, but he pinned them on either side of my head with a firm grip on my wrist. "I don't care," he said, pressing his body closer to mine, making my protesting movements stop with a gasp as he buried his face in my neck possessively. "Leave me and go spend your time with Miss. Hans," I said in anger and pure jealousy while looking into his amber eyes as he moved his face to look at me. He smirked while listening to my words. He knows I'm burning from the inside. "You will go nowhere with that James," he said, burning in anger, ignoring my words, making me look at him with a scowl. "Professor, leave me. It's inappropriate of you to ask me not to see my friend. You have no right on me," I said in the same mocking voice, and his jaw clenched even more. "The professor doesn't, but I have every fucking right to you as your husband, my little bride," he said with a smirk on his face. Yes, you heard it right. I'm married to my maths professor.
